About Rio Rancho, NM - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Like so many communities in the area, this town’s history goes back 300 years or so.  The Rio Rancho region was initially part of the Alameda Grant, founded by the Spanish in the early 18th century. Over 200 years later, in 1961, corporate interests turned the land into a housing development called "Rio Rancho Estates." Families began moving into this development in the early part of the 1960s. Developers advertised heavily in New York media and, therefore, many of the first homeowners were transplants from New York. They undoubtedly encountered not just culture, but climate, shock. But, they also found a lovely and safe place to raise their children and a culture that fascinated and delighted them.

The population grew exponentially in the following decades.  Rio Rancho was not officially incorporated until 1981, around the time of the opening of a large Intel Corporation plant.  This, of course, boosted the economy and helped the Rio Rancho community to become more independent from Albuquerque. It was around this time that they built their own schools, libraries, and parks with the hopes of attracting more businesses.  The sunny little desert oasis was looking to stand on its own two feet.

Today, Rio Rancho is the location of Intel's Intel Fab 11X, opened in 2002.  It is one of the biggest semiconductor fabrication plants on the planet. The completely automated, $2 billion facility is one of the largest employers in the area.  It is also a lively and thriving town with beautiful landscapes and amazing warm weather.  Because of its amazing growth since the 60s, it is now one of the best places to live in the whole state.   There is plenty of room for kids and pets to run, it is an ideal place for retirement, and its proximity to Albuquerque makes it convenient to healthcare, cultural events, dining, museums, schools and more.
